Well as I assumed, my beautiful films are more mainstream than most of the other bloggers participating in Abby's Beautiful Film Week, but maybe I am representing for other bloggers out there. I love the look of the two she has suggested The Lives of Others and Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter...and Spring. Both look really interesting and I look forward to checking them out.
A genre that I love is Sci-Fi so I have chosen that for today. I have always loved futuristic movies, and seeing people's vision of the future. I can suffer through a horrible movie (Demolition Man, anyone?) just to see the futuristic sets, costumes, cars, etc. One that I enjoyed, more for the visual beauty, than necessarily an amazing story, though it was interesting is Aeon Flux.
The costumes were amazing, all so interesting and well thought out. Very simple, with an Asian feel.

The sets really gave the movie a distinct feel and it was interesting to view the DVD bonus material to learn that the movie was filmed in Berlin, Germany and to quote wikipedia:
The crew was able to gain access to several locations that had never allowed filming before including the Treptow Crematorium, the Trudelturm wind tunnel facility and the Haus der Kulturen der Welt ("House of the World's Cultures"). Additional locations include the handler space, a dissection theatre built in 1790 to train vets and the government buildings, set in the Berlin animal shelter
If you are a fan of sci-fi I encourage you to check it out. Enjoy!

Hhmmmmmm, all the films you've listed are destined to become my favs I think. We have very similar taste.
If it's from another culture, has amazing costumes & presents the chance to "people watch" then who needs a plot anyway?
Looks like you get both with all of these though! Xxx
